5 Signs Your Child Needs a Tutor

Every student, at one time or another, will have a class or subject that they struggle with. Often times, one-on-one instruction with a parent or teacher is all the help they need, but other times this isn’t enough. While a series of bad report cards are usually a good sign that your child needs extra help, there are other, less noticeable signs that your child needs a private tutor.

Grades continue to slip5 Signs Your Child Needs a Tutor

Like we said, a series of bad report cards is one of the most obvious signs that your child is struggling in school. One or two bad grades are bound to happen, but a series of poor performances over the course of three to four months is usually a sign that something else is amiss.

Reluctant to do homework

Granted, very few kids enjoy doing homework, but if your child is consistently putting off doing their homework, this could be a sign that they find it too difficult or too frustrating. Plus, if it feels like you’re fighting in World War 3 just to get them to do their homework, you may need to call in professional help.

Lack of confidence

When your child begins to struggle with a subject, naturally they’re going to feel less confident in their abilities. This lack of confidence could then cause them to perform even more poorly than they were before. However, by hiring a tutor, your child can learn techniques for them to perform better, which in turn will help their self-esteem.

Not wanting to go to school

If you have to drag your child to school every morning, chances are there’s something at school that’s upsetting them. In many cases, children behave this way because they’re embarrassed or frustrated that they can’t keep up with the rest of the class.

Your child studies, but still gets bad grades

Even if they do all their homework, study for their tests, and attend school every day, your child could still perform poorly in school. This is likely due to poor study techniques which can be corrected with the help of a tutor.

If you notice any of these signs with your child, then it’s time to call in a tutor. If you live anywhere from Brooklyn to Suffolk County and are looking for a tutor for your child, then contact Dr. Marie Mazza to see how she can get your student back on the right track.
